shiitake mushrooms

Shiitake mushrooms have an earthy, robust flavor that makes them one of the most popular premium mushrooms on the market. Their name is Japanese and is the combination of the hardwood trees they are grown on (Shii) and mushroom (take). True to their brand, Leep Mushrooms are grown on American Hardwoods.

We’ve heard of them being sauteed and stir-fried, or stuffed into heavenly dumpling pouches. Shiitakes have a good chance of becoming the main event of any meal, so savor them with a fine glass of wine or a malty beer.

lion’s mane mushrooms

Lion’s Mane’s flavor and texture is similar to crab or lobster meat, boasting a unique, sweet and savory flavor often related to seafood. Delightfully one-of -a-kind in outward appearance, Lion’s Mane has a very absorbent, soft, spongy texture. Its structure is similar to that of a cauliflower, and it can be pulled apart easily to separate into smaller bites.

Mushroom-eaters love Lion’s Mane in its purest form –and we recommend preparing it simply with a dry sauté: add a pat of butter and some minced garlic  and enjoy once golden brown!

blue oyster mushrooms

Named after a sea-dwelling lookalike, the Blue Oyster mushroom is celebrated for its mild, delicate flavor and hearty meat-like texture. Because of this, it’s a perfect meat substitute, and scores points on its versatility in cooked dishes.

Blue Oyster Mushrooms pair well with chicken, meat, scallops, and vegetables and compliment flavors from cuisines from around the world. Just chop off the “heart” of the mushroom cluster (where all the stems come together) and savor both the caps and stems in a stir-fry, sauce or as a side.
